Lehre@LMU Awards 2014

Instructor and students of the Faculty of Biology are awarded prizes for teaching innovation and research excellence

From a total of 13 prizes university-wide, one instructor and two students from the Faculty of Biology were singled out for the annual Lehre@LMU awards. 

The LMU Teaching Innovation Prize 2014 was awarded to Dr. Daniela Meilinger (Human Biology, in the group of Prof. Dr. Heinrich Leonhardt) for the the course "iRES - Hands-on research". Criteria for the award were the degree of innovation, the model character and the practical orientation of the course. The Teaching Innovation Prize is endowed with 10,000 Euro which will be implemented toward further innovative ideas for teaching in the Faculty of Biology. 

The LMU Award for Excellent Student Research 2014 goes to Juliane Kretschmann (Systematic Botany, the group of PD Dr. Marc Gottschling) for her master's thesis "Taxonomic clarification of Gymnodium limnecticum WOLOSZ. and resurrection of Melodinium KENT (Gymnodiniaceae, Dinophyceae)" and Patricia Velado Lobato (Behavioural Ecology, group of Dr. Cristina Tuni) for her Lehre@LMU research project entitled "Frequency of deception in the spider Pisaura mirabilis in a natural population." Criteria for this award were the successful performance of the project, amount and originality of the new knowledge gained and potential for further projects. Die LMU Student Research Awards are each endowed with 1.000 Euro.
